Time for a redesign?
The most recent Boagworld podcast asks the question “Is it time to redesign your company’s website?” This is something businesses should be asking themselves at least once a year. Why? The web is still a very young medium: trends come and go, styles change, tastes mature, technology improves. Unfortunately, this means that what was perfect 18 months ago probably looks a little dated today.
The Boagworld fellows organized a list of questions that will help you reach a decision on redesign:
- Does your competition offer functionality and features online that you don’t?
- Does your site appear dated when compared to others?
- Does your site fail to show new products/services or does it reflect non-existant items?
- Has your business model changed such that your content is no longer relevant?
- Are visitors not staying at your site as long as they used to?
- Has there been a drop-off in repeat traffic?
- Has there been a drop-off in leads or inquiries coming in via the site?
I’ll add a few more to the list:
- Are you leveraging a statistics package?
- Do you have a content management system in place?
- Do you offer a compelling reason for visitors to return (news, articles, calendar of events)?
- Is the site standards compliant?
If you’re answering “Yes” to most of these questions, a redesign or upgrade should become a priority. Today, a website is the most important impression a business can make, short of your products and services. Use it to communicate with your existing customers and reel in potential ones. And we haven’t even touched on how you can use the site to make your internal operations more efficient. Stop hyperventilating, we can help. Call us.
